Detailed description of Heather Hills Golf Club

Heather Hills Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Romeo, Michigan.

Heather Hills Golf Club is built on 165 acres of undulating, wooded land in the northwest corner of Macomb County. The original 9 holes opened in the summer of 1979; the second 9 followed in the fall of 1991. The course offers Bluegrass tees and fairways and Bentgrass greens. The course has been described as deceivingly difficult, with seldom a flat lie. Additionally, many trees can alter your shots. Water hazards come into play on seven holes.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,424 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,163 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 10, a par-5 that plays to 494 yards. The shortest holes on the course are #2 and # 7, par-3s that play to 144 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 15, a 425 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Heather Hills Golf Club is # 2, a 144 yard par-3.

There is not a flat lie on this golf course. Every lie is either up hill, downhill or side hill. The greens are fast and true. This is a good chalenge.

Would travel: 10-20 Miles
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Great layout. Its funny because you have to take little dirt roads WAY back into the woods. Its a surprise when all of a sudden there is a golf course way back there! This place is hands down the best value in the area. There is a lot of elevation change, some interesting risk/reward short par 4s. One of them (I don't remember the hole number) is one of my favorite examples of risk/reward on a short par 4. I think the hole is only like 330 yards, but the closer you get to the green, the narrower the approach becomes. The green is surrounded by tall trees almost right to the edge of the green. If you hang back and play a mid iron off the tee, you will have an easy wedge approach. If you take a wood or long iron to try to get close, you run the risk of being blocked out completely if you are off line even by a few yards. All in all, I would make sure that you play here if you live in this area. Not really a "destination" course, but a great Sunday afternoon or sneak-out-of-work-early course to enjoy with your friends. The staff and the layout are very friendly.
